We strive for a pleasant environment. You received this set of rules when you entered the sim and we ask that you read them completely.
THE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED WHETHER YOU CHOOSE TO READ THEM OR NOT.
General Rules
1. Bear River is part of SL. All SL rules are hereby automatically valid.
2. Out of character (OOC ) chat should be typed in brackets; ((sample )) or sent via instant message. Voice chats are prohibited, with the exception of special events.
3. Players must remain in character. Bear River a Old West role-play sim and we strive to create an authentic atmosphere for all players. Remaining in character helps to maintain this atmosphere.
4. Child avatars must behave like children. Child avatars may not:
* Participate in and/or interfere with any form of combat.
* May not engage in any adult behavior, including but not limited to, sexual or lewd behavior. Violation of this rule can be
cause for immediate-permanent ban from the entire Western Alliance group of sims and reported to Linden Labs.

6. NO DRAMA. Keep all personal drama to yourself or take it elsewhere.
7. SEX - is a natural act. PLEASE NO SEXUAL ACTS OR NUDITY IN PUBLIC. Do it in the privacy of your homes or lodging. Animal mating is NOT ALLOWED. THE ROLEPLAY OF RAPE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN OPEN ROLEPLAY IN BEAR RIVER, WHETHER OR NOT THE TWO PLAYERS INVOLVED BOTH CONSENT.
8. NO RANDOM SHOOTING
9. ROLE-PLAY BEFORE COMBAT!! If a situation can be solved in role playing, do so without the shooting. Every fight must be preceded by an appropriate introduction using a minimum of three lines of role-play. It’s not enough to say: “I am white, you are red, I’m gonna put a bullet in your head.” You must use a minimum of 3 lines of RP before shooting. If you are shot at, you are not required to RP 3 lines. These three lines must pertain to the actual process of firing and drawing your weapon. If you are fired on, there is not a need to RP the three lines and you may defend your self. Also if you enter your hideout, village or town and a battle between your group and another or enemy individual is in progress you may enter that fight without additional emoting.
Example: Watches the man lowering his hand to his side.
Stretches his fingers , moving his hand closer to his pistol.
Quickly grips his pistol drawing it and firing.
10. The entire surface area of the sim is considered a role-play area, therefore the appropriate meter and group tag must be worn at ALL times and role-play rules followed. Self made groups need the agreement with the owner or estate manager before they can be used. Be in character at all times unless something NEEDS to be said OOC. (example, asking someone to check their IM or to go to group chat).
11. Bear River, Wyoming represents the historical Wild West it 1869 but does not apply to the exact events taken place during that time. The casual spoken language is English. Players with translators are welcome to play as well.
12. There are only three cases where players are allow to set their meter to OOC.
1. You are a guest or showing around a guest and possible new player (if you are, do not interfere with on going role-play).
2. If you are in a process of building.
3. If you have been told by the administration to set to OOC.
13. Players going AFK, must set their meters to AFK, the avatar should be in their lodging or out of the main RP area during that time.
14. All conflicts regarding RP and rules within the sim will be decided by the sim administration. Sim administration will be listed at the end of this NC. When a dispute arises, please provide admins with Chat history/logs to be used in final rulings. Disputes will not be addressed if chat logs are not provided. Do not get into a OOC argument in local or group chat. Use private IM.
15. Arguing or insulting the owners/admins and OCC disputes are not allowed. This will be an automatic WARNING or 3 DAY BAN at Admins/owners discretion.
16. Any type of insults or griefing will not be tolerated. Constant spammers and griefers are grounds to be banned.
17. Animals are allowed to participate in the RP as long they existed during that time and act as an animal would act. (ANIMALS DO NOT TALK !). Animals weapons (such as teeth, fangs and claws with melee meter damage) are allowed to be used. Only bird and bat shaped avatars are allowed to fly within the role-play. Animals, furries, fantasy creatures, dragons, vampires, gargoyles, elves, dwarves, Na vi, etc. are prohibited. An animal may defend its owner or others in owners group but MAY NOT initiate an attack. Animal avatars MUST have NATURAL appearance. Such things as horses with extra long 'fantasy' manes and tails, or dogs/wolves with artificially colored fur, hats etc are prohibited. Animal avatars will be allowed to use the normal speed "boost' that comes with the avatar. However, any " EXTRA BOOST" , addons will not be allowed and will be grounds for formal warning and/or 3 day ban at the discretion of the ADMIN Staff..
18. Prim animal/pets and etc. are not allowed to be rezzed or placed within Wyoming Territory permanently. Only the owners/admins are allowed to place permanent animals for decoration or hunting purposes. Animal security systems such as killer bees or fight dogs are prohibited !!! Prim animals are not allowed to attack avatars.
19. No jump or enhancers are allowed. It is NOT realistic to be able to jump from ground to the roof of a building etc.
20. Observers/Guest must wear a Tag that indicates they are observing the RP. Observer tags are at the main hub of the Bear River Wyoming sim. Observers CAN NOT take part in the active RP or the conversations. Observers are guests which are not part of the character roles yet. Observers must wear proper clothing for the time era.
21. We require era-appropriate clothing for both genders and all ages. During the Victorian era were no mini skirts, belly tops, bling, tennis shoes, combat boots, camouflage suits, t-shirts, high heels or fur bikinis, to name a few.. Natives were modest in their dress and did not run around naked. On Bear River, natives may dress as they do on their home sims WITH THIS REQUIREMENT: NO NAKED BUTTOCKS, or NAKED PRIVATE PARTS ( INCLUDING BREASTS) .
22. We do not force anyone to stick permanently to a role that she/he does not like or feel uncomfortable with. Switching roles should be role played out.
23. One species character per avatar. Switching from human to animal or animal to human, is confusing. We welcome you to play a different character, but please create an alternate account. NO exceptions to this rule.
24. Gestures or poofers are prohibited. They disturb the RP. Exceptions are gestures that match with the RP such as native war cry or yells, etc.
25. Respect others homes, do not enter others homes without permission. It would not have been common practice in 1870 for outsiders, particularly settlers to just randomly enter a native village without permission. When entering the Cherokee Village, all outsiders must call out for permission to enter and wait for response. Those who do not get permission before entering would be risking danger to themselves. Even for those outsiders known and accepted by most of the Cherokee, there could be a situation where no Cherokee who knows them is in the village , therefore it would be wise for them too to announce themselves. .
26. Finally, Bear River has and welcomes CHILD AVATARS and we attempt to create a role-play environment that all may enjoy. Therefore please treat other players with respect, and be aware that OBSCENE and/or VULGAR language is not permitted on Bear River.
~~~~~Battles and Hostage~~~~
26. The meter and hud only allowed in this sim is: WW-Meter. The meter must be shown, no invisible names to confuse people. The meter and HUD must be worn at all time while in role play area and never removed unless an admin is asked for permission. No visible nor uninvisable flip titles or any attachments over head area
27. Weapons are allowed if they fit into the 1869’s era. The following Weapon builders for long range guns are allowed in Bear River, Wyoming:
* Peter Loudwater ( Schumann & Loudwater )
* Limondi & Titanium
* Vegoth Munro
* Genth Saiman
* Lockmort Mortlock
* Tristan Juanos
* Arbeitstier Ames
* Marshall Henly
* Yakumo23
* Tigra Watanabe
* Jester Doobie ( Single Colt + Rifle )
* AZ Freebies Colt (Tigra Watanabe)
* AZ Apache Freebies Rifle (Xabbu Masala)
All weapons must use the AZ 1.33 or WWDS bullet/arrow
- NOT ALLOWED TO USE MELEE AND RANGED WEAPON AT SAME TIME
- NOT ALLOWED TO USE SEVERAL WEAPONS AT SAME TIME, ONLY DUAL GUNS
- NOT ALLOWED SHOOTING IN THE MEDICAL CLINIC OR MEDCINE ASI ((Clinic above the saloon, medicine asi is in the village))
28. Close range weapons such as knifes and tomahawks do not have to be by a specific builder. They only need to fit in the Wild West time. (Close range weapons are not throwing knifes or throwing axes.) Fistfight and kicking is allowed as long they are not a fight system like kung fu or karate. In a dispute the owner or estate manager will decide if you can use them or not.
29. Starting fires must be role played. Only fires that are touch die or go out by themselves is allowed. Putting out a fire must be RPed.
30. If you have been defeated in a fight, you can not take a prisoner or continue to RP in the fight, you must seek medical help. The following actions are necessary to take a captive:
* Checking and removing of all weapons of any kind. To be sure that there are no weapons left, RP a very detailed weapon check
including pockets, boots etc.
* Handcuffing or tying prisoners so they do not escape
31. You must except bindings!!! However, Role-play scenarios must be agreed upon by both parties, i.e. taking a captive. Player A may not kidnap Player B without Player Bs prior consent.
32.Defeated? Immediately sheath or remove your weapons such as bow, rifle etc. Little weapons can always been hidden and need to be found and removed through role play. If the enemy does NOT ROLEPLAY removing your weapons, you are under no obligation to remove them although, in defeated state you CANNOT use them to attack again in that battle.
33. If you choose to be unarmed in Bear River, this choice does not make you unable to be role-played upon in a manner that would find your character captured or shot. Smarting off to an outlaw because of the rules of not shooting unarmed people does not make you invincible. Like in the old west you steered clear of such people and hung you head low walking swiftly by them hoping they wouldn't talk to you.
34. Every prisoner has the chance to escape through a logical escape plan. To start an escape or jailbreak /me attempts to escape e.g. and indicates for the other players that you escaping. If your attempt fails and your are recaptured, you may still try again later to escape.
35. Using of explosives is only tolerated with a good role play. Explosives may not be used in a fight against another avatar. Furthermore its necessary to emote the ignition of the explosives e.g. /me lightning the box of dynamite in front of the gate which makes it burst into a thousand pieces.... to simulate the sound of an explosion.
36. In battle, once your meter has reached 0% health, you can not fight in the battle. You must find healer/Doctor, RP healing and then wait for your meter to heal. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FIGHT AGAIN IN THE CURRENT BATTLE. Role-players with a health value of 0% or 1% are not a target any more. They can’t fight and represent anymore threat. Leave them in peace! YOU MAY UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES leave the sim , be healed off sim and return to battle. That is a bannable offense. If you are wounded and meter is low, you MAY HIDE, allow meter to build up to a stronger level and then return to the fight but once you are defeated, your participation in that fight is OVER until that role play is concluded.
METER NOTE:
It would be wise to find a doctor or medicine woman as soon as possibly because if you leave the sim and come back, your health will still be right where you were, when you left and will have to role play your wounds before beginning any other role play on return.
37. Characters do not suffer permanent death, unless you wish to kill off your character. Once you have killed off your character, it is not allowed to return as a different character.
38. Ransom in L$ is highly prohibited.
39. Do not role play inside of the group chat. Only use it for OOC matters and sending out an RP MESSAGE that will call role players to the sim.
For example: Telegram: Cavallery in Fort Lowell needs support, Militia needs Sherriff in Bear River
~Detailed information about exact location troop strength or vital hints are not allowed.~
40. There are no invisible weapons. If you don’t carry the weapon visibly, don’t use it. Hidden weapons can be knives, daggers, hair pins or a double barrel derringer.
41. You are not allowed to TP out of battle nor are you allowed to TP INTO the battle from within or without the sim . Players ENTERING the sim for roleplay/battle MUST ride/walk across sim line.
42. In the event a dispute arises wherein it cannot be settled peaceably between ADMIN and Player, Sim Owner will arbitrate the dispute and make final decision, based strictly upon CHAT LOGS PROVIDED. If the player cannot produce a chat log to validate their position, decision will be in favor of ADMIN.
